my dog won’t run
So, here’s the thing: my wife and 3 kids got a dog. I didn’t. But, being the genius that I am, I named him Michael, because if anyone was going to name this future running legend, it was me!
Now, Michael’s a Collie—aka the perfect ultra-running companion. Intelligent, easy to train… or so I thought. Yeah, I was very wrong.
He’s only 4 months old, so maybe my expectations were a bit high. I figured we’d hit the ground running with a nice half-mile warm-up. Instead, what I got was barking at cars, sitting at the gate, and me begging him to move a few metres. I’m an ultra runner with a broken Collie.
Every morning, it’s the same routine: I’m ready to conquer the world, and Michael’s just… not. He’s living his best life barking at cars, and I’m sitting there wondering if I’ll ever have that epic running companion I dreamed of. But at this rate, I might be stuck running with Andrew forever (and let’s be honest, no one’s barking louder than him).
So, I’m putting this out there—can anyone help? Am I missing something? Is there a secret to turning this pint-sized fluffball into the ultra dog of my dreams? Or is this it?
Guess I’ll stick with Andrew for now. At least he doesn’t bark at cars.
